Golden responds to July 7 Sarasota Herald-Tribune article
detailing Congressman Vern Buchanan's legal woes

A reading of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune article about Florida Congressman Vern Buchanan's legal woes, titled "Buchanan's Path Gets Smoother By The Day" (July 7, 2010), shows that a majority of the 13 lawsuits against him have not been dismissed permanently, settled or tried on the merits. I think it is much too soon to say that his path to a third term in Congress is getting "smoother." I also believe it does not matter to voters how much money he has raised to run for re-election. What matters to voters is how much has he done for them since being elected in 2006. In light of his claim of "focusing on constituent services," I intend to inform the voters across the district about the relatively small amount of money and projects he has brought back to the district. Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my congressional campaign Web site! I am running for Congress because the future of Florida’s middle class must be in creating new jobs in clean and secure energy, quality education, and caring for an aging population with compassion and respect.

The people of the 13th Congressional District want a representative who is dedicated to finding solutions to these needs for our common good. Instead, all they have gotten is politics as usual and partisan bickering.

I hope you’ll join me on this campaign to bring some Florida commonsense back to Washington, D.C.

Sincerely,
James T. Golden
