The RAK Research and Innovation Center is an advanced facility dedicated to research and development, specializing in creating sustainable system solutions related to solar technologies.
Focusing on cutting-edge advancements in the field, the center bridges academia and industry, driving new product development and fostering collaboration. It offers top-tier opportunities to highly selected master's and Ph.D. students from leading European universities, allowing them to participate in application-driven projects within its state-of-the-art facility.
Working closely with industry professionals, the center's senior R&D engineers develop competitive solutions for renewable energy. In addition to its research activities, the center also provides consultancy services, performance tests, technology integration, energy auditing, system development, and technology transfer to the industry.

The RAK Research and Innovation Center has a rich history that began with the establishment of a research platform by CSEM in 2007. The Government of Ras Al Khaimah allocated a vast 87,000 square meters of land in the industrial zone to CSEM-UAE, setting the stage for constructing a unique solar R&D facility.
This initial platform led to the development of the Solar-Island prototype, which aimed to evaluate technologies for building cost-effective solar power plants. Over time, the facility has expanded significantly. It now encompasses seven R&D test platforms focusing on various aspects of solar technology, including photovoltaics, solar cooling, solar hybrid mini-grids, green building, solar water desalination, solar islands, and concentrated solar power.
Today, the RAK Research and Innovation Center stands as a beacon of innovation, facilitating collaboration with leading academic, technological, and industrial development centers worldwide while playing a pivotal role in driving the advancement of sustainable energy solutions.
