• Solar hot water system: For residential consumers, the RAK research center provides an exciting solution to reduce electricity and fuel costs by implementing a domestic hot water system for daily applications. The system is sustainable, avoids carbon emissions, and is cost-effective. The research center will design and size the system based on customers’ requirements.
• Solar Desalination: The Research center provides unique commercial and residential solutions to avoid bottled water consumption with scalable solar membrane desalination systems to meet consumer demands. The research center also provides an innovative cogeneration solution to produce clean and domestic hot water for residential consumers.
• Solar Cooling: The RAK research and innovation center provides much-needed solar building air conditioning solutions besides heating solutions. Solar cooling systems utilize concentrated and non-concentrated solar collectors to drive absorption chillers to achieve the required cooling. This system is ideal for office buildings, hotels, and other large commercial buildings. The center provides services like designing, procuring, and installing the system based on the requirement.
• Solar process heating: The RAK Research and Innovation Center can provide sustainable solutions for industries producing high-temperature process steam using concentrated solar power technology. The center can provide complete assistance in designing, installing, and commissioning the steam production facility.

Our solar laboratory has a rich history of successfully executing clean energy projects. These projects are developed in-house or in collaboration with industrial and academic partners, addressing various objectives. Completed/ Ongoing Projects:

1. Solar Hybrid Minigrid: This is one of the first installations in UAE considering the Solar Hybrid Energy generation of 59kWp power, which was exclusively designed and implemented in RAKRIC. This project was executed in collaboration with SMA and JinkoSolar.
2. Solar Water Desalination: This is an ongoing project at RAKRIC in collaboration with the KTH Royal Institute of Technology to develop a sustainable solution for water purification and domestic hot water generation for single-family households in the region.
3. Effect of Dust on PV: RAKRIC is collaborating with Flamco Middle East and EmiratesSolarSun for an ongoing project for Flamco mounting structure to study the effect of temperature and dust on PV panels on their mounting system to access the yield.
4. Solar Thermal Polygeneration: RAKRIC has collaborated with SCARAB Development AB. To efficiently integrate Solar Thermal Systems with absorption chiller and membrane distillation water purification technology for simultaneous production of cooling, pure water, and hot water for domestic use.
